Air-Time Purchases – Member Benefits

By registering as a member of xkenya.com, you are entitled to benefit from the various e-Payment services available through our online transaction gateway, including amongst others Air-Time Purchases, Money Transfers, Utility Payments, Academic Fees, and Other Payments.

Air-Time Purchases – Ideal for routine purchases of air-time from Safaricom and Celtel. Your family and friends back home will quickly and conveniently receive air-time credit directly on their mobile phones. The following air-time denominations can be purchased through our e-Payment service:

Safaricom Denominations
You can purchase air-time of 7 different values for Safaricom subscribers. To stay connected one must top up, make a chargeable call or send an SMS at least once every 90 days.

Celtel Denominations

You can purchase air-time of 5 different values for Celtel subscribers. To stay connected one must top up, make a chargeable call or send an SMS at least once every 90 days.

Transaction Process

All you have to do as a registered member to make air-time purchases in Kenya through our e-Payment service is the following steps (after configuring your online members account to list your beneficiaries/dependants):

• select the beneficiary of the air-time using their mobile number
• select the air-time denomination you want to purchase for them
• repeat the above steps for as many beneficiaries as you desire
• confirm that you have enough funds to activate the transaction
• if not enough, deposit money in our bank account for activation

Upon activation, we shall complete the air-time purchase on your behalf and send the air-time to the specified beneficiaries in Kenya via their mobile numbers.

We shall then update the above online transaction with the receipt details – basically the pin number issued by either Safaricom or Celtel for the purchase.

Transaction Fees

We charge you a nominal fee of KShs. 72.50 for each air-time purchase you instruct us to make on your behalf. In addition to this, there is a funds transfer fee of KShs. 725/- charged for any deposits you make in our bank account to activate your transactions.

Needless to say, this nominal fee per air-time purchase is only cost-effective for air-time denominations above KShs. 500/. However, the nominal fee is reduced by 50% for members who pay for an annual subscription (KShs. 17,500/- or approx. US$ 240).

Repeat Transactions

Our online transaction gateway makes it really easy for you to make routine and repeat air-time purchases for your various dependants/beneficiaries by using a template to bring up your last air-time purchase details for all your dependants/beneficiaries.

The next time you want to purchase air-time, the template lists all your dependants/beneficiaries whom you have pre-configured for air-time purchases and displays details of the last transaction (date and amount) to help you make a decision.
