1. What is an Online Transaction Gateway?
An Online Transaction Gateway (OTG) is a one-stop-shop for processing Internet-driven transactions such as for e-Commerce and e-Business, amongst other applications. By aggregating all the necessary information, an OTG makes it easier for people to use the Internet to accomplish various tasks online.

2. What is an e-Payment service?
An e-Payment service is a payment processing service that facilitates multiple repeat payments, undertaken on your behalf for a nominal fee. It relieves you of the burden of taking time out from your schedule to attend to mundane but necessary housekeeping tasks that could take even a whole day to perform.
Through xkenya.com’s online transaction gateway, we perform these routine tasks for you. All you have to do is become a member, give us instructions online, send us money to pay your bills and then we take care of the rest. Eventually this whole process will be totally electronic once our system is fully automated.

3. Who can participate/benefit from your e-Payment services?
Our e-Payment service is open and available to individuals and organizations based in Kenya and abroad who have dependants and/or beneficiaries located in Kenya for whom regular payments or remittances are made. Our only requirement is that you apply for registration as a member of xkenya.com (free registration).

4. What are the costs for using your e-Payment service?
We charge a nominal fee of KShs. 72.50 (approx. US$ 1) for each payment made on your behalf according to instructions received online from you through our online transaction gateway. In addition to this fee, our bank charges KShs. 725.00 (approx. US$ 10) for each funds transfer to our bank account. 
For those with many payments each month, we offer an annual subscription that provides for a reduced nominal fee with savings of upto 50% per payment.

5. How many payments can I make through your e-Payment service?
As many as you need to process in a day, week, month, quarter or year. Our e-Payment system allows you to configure accounts for all your payments and then it creates a template to facilitate the processing of repeat transactions whenever you desire.
Each transaction enables you to make different payments to various service providers like Kenya Power, Nairobi Water, amongst others once you receive their monthly bills. To activate your transaction, you deposit the money in our bank account and then we take care of the rest by completing the various payments on your behalf.

6. How do I deposit money in your bank account?
There are various options available to you depending on the number of payments to be made on your behalf as well as the frequency of transferring funds to our bank account. The best way is to calculate your projected cash-flow using our projections module and then transfer the funds accordingly through the following channels:

  • Electronic Deposit – through EFT or Swift from your bank account.
  • Money Transfers – for example, Western Union, MoneyGram and others.
  • Standing Orders – from your bank account direct to our bank account. 

The goal is to ensure that there is enough money to complete your payments on time. For those with regular payments for specific deadlines then standing orders or electronic deposits are effective. On the other hand, money transfers are more appropriate for emergency or urgent payments though more expensive.

7.  Can I pay by Credit Card?
Our risk management policy does not allow us to process payments by credit card. In addition to this, payment by credit card is too expensive in terms of both time and money in view of the fact that we are processing these payments in Kenya and also on your behalf. 

8.  How do I confirm that you have made payment(s) on my behalf?
We will email you a scanned image of the receipt upon payment on your behalf. We will also update your online transaction record with relevant receipt details. This way you will have online access to all your payment records made by us on your behalf.
This online receipt confirmation is a powerful feature that enables you to track all payments made to different service providers like Kenya Power, Nairobi Water, etc. You will be able to view online and/or print statements for whatever payments/periods you desire through our online transaction gateway.

9. What happens if the funds you are holding on my behalf cannot cover the payments I have instructed you to make on my behalf?
As you are instructing us online through the transactions module on what payments to make on your behalf, the system will display a balance summary showing whether you have enough money to activate the transaction. Therefore, you will know immediately whether there are enough funds to complete the process.
We are not in the money lending business so we not offer credit to make any payments on your behalf. We merely provide e-Payment services to help you meet your financial commitments in Kenya. If the funds are not enough, we wait until you deposit more money in our bank account.

10.  How safe is the whole process?
We use a combination of technologies to protect our members’ information within our technical infrastructure. Access to the e-Payment service is controlled by username, password and pin number. Our servers are hosted internationally with the requisite security and backups. Your funds are stored in a special client account with payments made directly to the various service providers. 

11. How do I end my membership?
Notify us via email and we begin the process of de-registration. We shall also arrange to refund any money you have deposited in our bank account after settling any outstanding charges.
